About us
My name is Alexandra. My journey toward creating the Omnia Books space has led me through different countries and cultures, shaping my unique vision of literature.
About me in facts and figures:
- 20 years of living abroad (France and Germany)
- Master of Laws from the University of Strasbourg
-
5 languages in which I read and communicate
Why Omnia? The name comes from the Latin word meaning "all" or "everything." It is a manifesto of openness and inclusivity. I see bookshelves as a space without borders, where texts in different languages allow for a deeper understanding of the author's intent and the translator's craftsmanship.
Omnia Books is for those who feel like citizens of the world—those who may miss home but remain open to the new, and those who know that language is the key not only to knowledge but to the soul.
Our Values:
-
Multilingualism: We offer world bestsellers and classics in several languages simultaneously. This is our way of creating a shared context for everyone: so you can share the excitement of a book with friends or a partner, even if you read in different languages. It also allows you to experience the authentic rhythm of the original by comparing it with a translation—a powerful method for language learning.
-
Context: We always highlight the author’s country of origin, which is particularly vital for literature regarding psychology and history.
-
Community: Omnia Books is more than just a store; it is also home to the "Bibliorada" book club in Karlsruhe. We meet regularly to discuss books and exchange experiences.
-
Quality: I personally select every edition, paying close attention to the themes, cover aesthetics, reviews, and the quality of the translation.
I invite you to become part of our community and find your own special book at Omnia Books.
