It is not just since the grain agreement with Ukraine that we have known what it means when Russia threatens the world with hunger. Food has always been used there as a political tool! In this unique blend of reportage and cookbook, Witold Szabłowski shows how—throughout history—Russia has repeatedly instrumentalized food and turned hunger into a weapon. What did the officials feast on while the comrades went hungry? What did Yuri Gagarin eat in space? What did Ukraine survive on during the Great Famine caused by Stalin? An unusual look at events that have moved the world—through the kitchen door.
